  AIRD teaching developing country university students about international commodity trade
January & May 2006

AIRD president Dirck Stryker traveled to Tanzania in January 2006 to engage East African university professors in a seminar on commodity trade. A similar training exercise was held in Senegal in May 2006. 

For UNCTAD's Virtual Institute, AIRD is creating five teaching modules for online use by universities in developing countries.

Module 1: International Commodity Policies: History and market developments
Module 2: Commodity Market Structures: Analytical methods, information and policy analysis
Module 3: Barriers to Market Access: Tariff and non-tariff barriers (SPS, TBT)
Module 4: Commodity Finance and Risk Management for Developing Countries
Module 5: The International Trading System (WTO) and Commodities: The present Doha Round negotiations on agricultural trade liberalization
